Alexandra Tankersley

Instructional Designer

Alexandra Tankersley has been a passionate learner since 2012, when she began her involvement in the veterinary field. She was soon driven to achieve her associate degree in veterinary technology via online instruction, and subsequently brought her enthusiasm to VetBloom in 2019 as a placement assistant for students in the Veterinary Assistant program.

Alexandra rapidly progressed to the role of junior instructional designer, in which she provides quality learning methods to those in the veterinary industry. Throughout her career, Alexandra has shown her dedication by founding and managing a mentor program and constructing crucial patient care documents such as anesthesia monitoring sheets, triage forms, and CPR flow sheets. She also introduced attendance and holiday protocols for her hospital.

When not at work, Alexandra enjoys spending time with her adoring husband Josh and their two sons, three dogs, two cats, and a ferret in beautiful Louisiana.

Ed Carlson, CVT, VTS (Nutrition)

Director of Veterinary Nursing Education

Ed Carlson is an accomplished veterinary professional with over 20 years of experience in the veterinary industry. He grew up in New Hampshire and stayed there for much of his adult life, working in rural primary care practices. In 2001, Ed moved to Massachusetts where he worked in General Practice, Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, and several management positions before joining the Ethos Veterinary Health Learning and Development team. Currently, Ed serves as the Director of Veterinary Nursing Education with VetBloom.

Ed has served on numerous committees within the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA), served as the NAVTA President in 2021, and was the esteemed recipient of their 2019 Technician of the Year award. He has also lent his leadership talents to the Massachusetts Veterinary Technician Association and the New Hampshire Veterinary Technician Association Executive Boards.

In 2014, Ed attained his VTS (Nutrition) and in recent years, he has been a frequent lecturer at local, regional, national, and international veterinary conferences discussing a variety of nutrition topics.

Outside of his professional life, Ed loves to go "glamping" with his husband Walter in their large RV.

James T Berhman

Learning Technology Specialist

James Berhman brings over 17 years of expertise to his current role as a Learning Technology Specialist at Vetbloom. Throughout his career, James has gained formidable expertise in client service, information technology, and video production. After years of honing his skills in veterinary specialty practice, James now spends his days creating high quality and informative multimedia content for use in VetBloom's expansive library. His video and production skills are a true asset to the VetBloom team.

Aside from his professional pursuits, James is a passionate hobbyist. He loves to spend his free time writing, taking care of his two cats, Mochi and Toph, playing board games, and trying new forms of cinematography.

Jasmina Romanova, MEd

LMS Administrator and LMS Project Manager

Jasmina Romanova is an experienced LMS administrator and project manager, with extensive experience in the e-learning industry. She holds a master’s degree in Pedagogy from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje and has completed research scholarships in Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz.

Jasmina has consulted on more than 70 different LMS projects. Her expertise in Learning Management Systems, Data Analysis, and Web-based Research has made her an invaluable member of the VetBloom team.

Jasmina’s expertise extends to project management, user management, course creation, information management, customer support, and QA of LMS platforms.

When she's not working, Jasmina enjoys watching movies and series, travelling, hiking, riding her bike, and taking care of over 30 houseplants.

Helen Jones

Sr. Instructional Design Program Manager

Helen came to VetBloom with a love and appreciation for the amazing talent of the people who make up the veterinary industry.

Helen’s background as an instructional designer spans more than 25 years. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from University of La Verne, in Southern California. In addition to the veterinary field, Helen has filled a variety of training and instructional design roles in the electric utility and aviation fields.

At home in the beautiful state of Washington, Helen enjoys bike riding, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her husband, David, and their senior cat, Spooky, and sweet dog, Quinn.

Mariela Serrano

Customer Success Specialist

Mariela Serrano is an animal healthcare specialist with a decade of expertise providing top-notch customer service and animal care. With a trove of certificates in customer relations, personnel management, and veterinary technology, Mariela currently serves as a Customer Success Specialist for VetBloom.

Mariela has held various roles in the veterinary industry, such as office manager, floor manager, lead customer service representative, client care representative supervisor, doctor's assistant, kennel attendant, and vet tech assistant.

Mariela is driven by her passion for training, development, and improving the experience for everyone involved in the hospital’s she worked. As a result, she has now found her purpose at VetBloom, where she can emit her drive for training, onboarding, and development to help others.

Mariela and her family enjoy taking strolls along the beach with their furry companions, Simba and Kobe. They also love exploring new places such as theme parks, restaurants, outdoor activities, and sports events.

Michelle Marks CVT, CCFP

Director of Customer Success

Michelle came to VetBloom with a passion for creating optimal client experiences. Michelle’s background as a Certified Veterinary Technician spans more than 20 years. In addition to her experience in animal care, Michelle has filled a vast set of administrative roles, including hospital manager, area operations manager, veterinary practice consultant, acquisitions supervisor, and learning and development coordinator. With a strong background in virtually every area of veterinary practice, Michelle is adept at supporting veterinary practices with their onboarding and learning and development needs. 

In her small-town home in Idaho, Michelle enjoys hiking, fishing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her husband, and their three dogs, Mila, Poppie, and Clover.

Patrick Welch, DVM, MBA, DACVO

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Patrick Welch is a passionate Veterinarian, C-Level Executive, Innovator, and Entrepreneur who is dedicated to exploring the intersection of technology and learning in the veterinary field. As the founder and CEO of VetBloom, he is excited to use tech to transform the future of education and work.

Patrick graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and went on to complete an internship in medicine and surgery, a residency in Comparative Ophthalmology from Iowa State University, and his Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University.

Dr. Welch is also a founding member of the invite-only platform Executive Council Network (ECN) and has served as an Advisory Board Member for Massasoit Community College's Veterinary Technician Program since 2016.

His mission is to connect with others who share his vision in order to find opportunities for growth, disruption, and change in our world.

Ryan Cooper

LMS Project Manager

Ryan Cooper is a dedicated professional with years of experience in sales, customer service, and software engineering. He is currently the LMS Project Manager at VetBloom, where he manages training content, troubleshoots LMS issues, and maintains the integrity and functionality of the platform.

Ryan’s specialties include assessing the needs of clients and offering key insights into their platform metrics, as well as streamlining systems processes throughout the organization.

Ryan graduated with honors from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is an accomplished professional with a passion for learning and problem-solving.

Ryan hails from the Great Lakes state of Michigan, but currently lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with his wife, Sarah.

Tina Bennett, BS, RVT

Veterinary Nursing Program Manager

Tina Bennett is an experienced and dedicated veterinary professional, having acquired an impressive set of skills and experience since obtaining her bachelor's degree in biology from Montana State University in 1997. Of significance, Tina was among the few to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) the first time it was offered in the State of Montana, a milestone in her career. Since this time, she has undertaken numerous roles in GP and specialty veterinary practices in California, Montana, and Colorado that have ranged from Receptionist to Registered Veterinary Technician, with multiple supervisory and managerial positions in-between.

Currently, Tina works as the Veterinary Nursing Program Manager for VetBloom where she is responsible for overseeing students and coordinating the online VetBloom Veterinary Assistant program, the Purdue/VetBloom Veterinary Nursing Distance Learning program, and the Purdue Business Essentials Graduate Certificate program.

In addition to her successful professional career, Tina is an avid world traveler.

YouLim Kim

Director of Learning Technology

YouLim is an enthusiastic designer, educator, LMS administrator, and a team supporter with over 15 years of experience in both higher education and the veterinary health industry.

As a designer by training, her passion is to create innovative and user-friendly design solutions. With her Master of Educational Leadership degree and her many years of work experience in the adult learning field, she provides in-depth understanding and insights to the team so that VetBloom’s training and learning content would be effective and engaging. As an LMS administrator, she loves troubleshooting issues and enhancing the platform. While enjoying wearing various hats on a daily work life, her passion is to support and encourage other team members to grow together.

YouLim and her husband enjoy Marvel movies and the Mission Impossible series, so they named their boy after one of the characters. She loves playing board games and traveling around the world.
