Anesthesia Monitoring Basics and General Anesthesia Depth Determination

This lecture has been RACE Approved for 1 CE hour for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

To highlight physiology that underlies monitoring techniques; to discuss subjective and objective monitoring techniques and tools both invasive and noninvasive that allow us to judge anesthesia depth; to define appropriate anesthesia depth and physiologic/vital parameter characteristics that accompany different stages and planes of anesthesia; to discuss global indications, initial troubleshooting, and pathophysiology issues for monitoring tools of EEG, ECG, blood pressure, ventilation, oxygenation, thermoregulation; to review steps to take for light” and “deep” patients under sedation and anesthesia”
