Program Description:
The course involves the discussion of the use of acepromazine and seizures; science behind gabapentin and different types of post-operative pain; and pharmacology/physiology of the use of dexmedetomidine in patients with heart disease. Additionally includes a panel discussion on the topic.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will learn the relational concepts between blood pressure, cardiac output, vascular resistance, and tissue perfusion.
- Attendees will learn the different methods of non-invasive and invasive blood pressure measurement techniques commonly used in veterinary species.
- Attendees will understand the limitations of each method discussed above.
- Attendees will understand how to interpret the results obtained from Doppler ultrasonic flow detector, oscillometry, and invasive blood pressure methods.
