Case-Based Anesthesia Course for Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians
Course Details
This lecture has been RACE Approved for 3 CE hours for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
By the end of this case based module, Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians will learn how to devise anesthesia protocols based on patient risk and manage their patients pre/intraoperatively. They will have practiced and be able to obtain appropriate pre-operative patient information to determine the level of risk, and be able to determine for their surgical patients best anesthesia drug choice, dosage & route, equipment, intraop management, and post-op anesthesia care. Detailed instruction and examples cover how to: research and consider the appropriate pre-op information, conduct an appropriate exam, review/request periop tests, anticipate and prepare for the possible periop complications, determine risk level for patient and if they should proceed to surgery, equipment and logistical needs of procedure, create an anesthesia plan, complete induction process (premedication, catheterization, induction, airway and circulatory securement, instrumentation and prep-positioning); determine intraop management activities, respond correctly to common intraop anesthesia situations and determine postop management care.
