Program Description:

Physical problems and behavioral problems can be intricately intertwined. This presentation will review the mental health/physical health connection in pets. The role of anxiety, stress, pain and discomfort will be reviewed as well as some important features that can help differentiate between primary medical conditions and problems that are primarily behavioral.

Learning Objectives:

1. Attendees will learn the aspects of signalment and behavioral history that can help them differentiate primary behavior problems from primary medical conditions.
2. Attendees will learn to identify the behaviors of pain and illness.
3. Attendees will learn to recognize the behavioral signs of stress.
