Program Description:

In this course Dr. Rachel Reed provides a brief overview of available options and strategies in management of equine pain followed by a panel discussion on the topic with Dr. Chiara Hampton and Sharon Klingler.

Agenda:

Dr. Reed will discuss the pain pathway including specific targets for pain management and outline an equine pain management ladder which provides various options for pain mangement in horses with escalating pain.

1. Discuss the equine pain management ladder.
2. List options for pain management in horses at home and in the hospital.
3. Outline the pros and cons of various analgesic agents, including adverse effects.
