This lecture has been RACE approved for 1 CE hour for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

This presentation will be targeted to Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians who want to expand their understanding of commonly used preanesthetic medications both new and old. They will consider why premedication is beneficial to most anesthetic plans. A review of the pharmacology of different drug classes, including mechanism of action, anticipated side-effects, as well as indications and contraindications for use will be discussed. Cost and availability associated with different drug choices will be mentioned, along with case examples.
