Implementing Fear Free Into a Companion Animal Anesthesia Practice

Objectives:
Describe Fear Free principles and how fear, anxiety and stress can adversely impact the human-animal bond
Identify various levels of fear, anxiety and stress (FAS) in dogs and cats and develop ways to mitigate stressors in the veterinary hospital
Determine when pharmaceutical intervention is appropriate for dogs and cats experiencing higher levels of FAS
Describe how handling techniques and the hospital environment impact the perception of FAS in dogs and cats and explain ways to mitigate adverse emotional experiences
Recognize the difference between FAS and pain in dogs and cats
