Induction Agents

Course Details

This lecture has been RACE Approved for 1 CE hour of continuing education credit for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

The attendee will gain an understanding of physiology, pharmacology and induction agent mechanisms. Each induction agent or combination thereof offers the patient different cardiovascular, pulmonary, cerebrocirculatory and sphlanchnic effects, culminating in the loss of consciousness and the entry into general anesthesia. This is one of the most crucial times in small animal anesthesia and because of it, the attendee should gain a working knowledge of each agent, precautions, contraindications, indications and body system effects to anticipate problems that occur and plan for rapid entrance.
