Inter-dog Aggression – What can you do after you sew them up?

Course Details

This lecture has been RACE approved for 1.0 CE hour for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Program Description:

Inter dog aggression between dogs that share a home can be very devastating for pet owners, especially if the dogs have lived together for some time. These cases can be challenging because we are not privy to the inner workings of the dogs mind and why they may or may not like a particular dog, but an understanding of normal dog social behavior can help. This presentation will review some of the common causes for dogs in a family to fight, management strategies and treatment options as well as some prognosticators that can be used to give families guidance.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will learn some of the common causes for inter dog aggression in the home.
  2. Attendees will develop an understanding of why these problems are not always about “dominance.”
  3. Attendees will be given basic management strategies that they can share with pet owners to keep them and their dogs safe.
  4. Attendees will learn what some of the more common factors are that can lead to a poor prognosis when two family dogs fight.
