Management of the Difficult Airway

Learning Objectives:

• After this lecture, the attendee will be able to describe the basic characteristics and use of an endotracheal tube and a laryngeal mask airway device.
• After this lecture, the attendee will be able to describe various techniques utilized to intubate patients with difficult airways.
• After this lecture, the attendee will understand how to safely exchange an endotracheal tube without losing the airway.
• After this lecture, the attendee will understand when and how to safely extubate patients.
