Over the past decade multiple drugs have been used to provide analgesia to small animal patients in both acute and chronic pain. In this seminar we will discuss these agents, their mechanisms, clinical applications and caveats, as well as specific indications and dosing. Various techniques such as Electrostimulation, Therapeutic ultrasound, shock wave therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic and various exercise therapies and modalities of physical rehabilitation will also be discussed to further identify analgesic potentials for small animal patients.
