Program Description:

Feline house soiling is one of the most common feline problem behaviors and it can present as a challenging combination of medical components and behavioral components. In order to treat the problem successfully, the veterinarian needs to have a basic understanding of normal feline elimination behavior, feline social behavior and feline behaviors associated with pain, illness and stress. This presentation will review how medical problems can cause and contribute to feline house soiling problems as well as how an understanding of these relationships can be used to increase treatment success.

  1. Attendees will learn to differentiate marking behavior from toileting behavior in the domestic cat
  2. Attendees will learn to recognize the social stressors that can lead to house soiling behaviors in the cat
