When the Beat Drops: Cardiotoxins in the ER

Program Description:

This one-hour lecture should provide a concise review of common cardiotoxin encounter on the ER floor. Ideally, practitioners that participate in this lecture should feel confident recognizing, diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients affected by common cardiotoxins. The lecture should be a comprehensive approach that will benefit seasoned and novice emergency practitioners.

Learning Objectives:

After attending this session, emergency veterinarians should be able to recognize common cardiotoxins and understand the MOA. They should feel confident is developing a targeted treatment plan based on their patients’ unique presentation after ingesting a cardiotoxin. Practitioners should feel comfortable integrating continuous monitoring into their cardiotoxin cases such as BP and ECG.
